6 Part Review: Very funny, thought provoking, educational...total entertainment IN HD!!! :)5
I didn't see this when it was shown on Sky and hadn't seen any clips, but because I found Karl funny in the The Ricky Gervais Show [DVD] [2010] and had heard it was funny i thought I'd give it a go. I don't want to give too much detail about this as it could take away any surprises, which would obviously ruin your experience. I have done a fair bit of Travelling and been to 2 of the countries he visited so was an added reason for buying this to get a different perspective.

Idiot Genius!5
Im with the guy in the last review! He is a genius! Watched the first episode last next after waiting all week for it and I have never laughed that much at something for a long time! The whole hour I had tears in my eyes! The man is brilliant! Have ordered the book already and cant not wait till the next episode!

This is a must buy, funniest thing you will see on TV! Ever!!

Educational, Funny and Karl5
I feel that the ones who have written such negative reviews may be missing the point of the series completely, in what could possibly be the best series of 2010. The series is not intended to provide a deep insight to the 7 wonders of the world; if you are wishing this sort of insight then you'd be better off watching Michael Palin. The premise of this series is that it is about a man who hates traveling, hates "being outside of his comfort zone", combined with the fact that he is extremely ignorant of other counties and other cultures.......THIS is what makes it so funny! A lot of people have criticisms on the show, claiming that it is scripted....it's not. Each episode, Ricky Gervais and Steve Merchant send him to visit a different wonder of the world and set arrange some visits and extra activities along the way. The countries he visits, in order, are China, India, Jordan, Mexico, Egypt, Brazil and Peru. It's hilarious seeing Karl give his own unique insights into the cultures and the customs of the people he meets along the way, along with his moans and gripes with each place (Ricky and Steve deliberately want him to experience the sites as "authentically" as possible in an attempt to make him more cultured). His observations and opinions are at times genuinely hilarious and fans of the Ricky Gervais show and podcasts will already be familiar with his unique views on the world in general. I find it quite bemusing how certain reviewers will dismiss the entire 7 episodes based on such insight as they don't like Ricky Gervais' laugh...grow up. My only criticism is that it is only 7 shows. I really do hope for a 2nd series, where perhaps Karl can visit some other countries and cultures, maybe even Ricky and Steve can go aswell to provide their own insights. I would describe the series as educational and funny. If you are expecting Michael Palin, then go and watch Michael Palin! Let's please have another series!

Good for Shrek devotees4
These are my thoughts on the cinematic release from Dreamworks, as the DVD won't be available until December 2010.

I chose old-fashioned 2D as I'm not a fan of 3D. In terms of technical standards of animation, little if anything broke new ground - it was good without being memorable.

It took a while to make me laugh though. It seemed a little dark and serious, and the overall mood it created wasn't as light-hearted as in earlier episodes. It wasn't just me - the cinema was full (the film was released the previous day) and for about fifteen minutes I realised that I hadn't heard anybody laugh at all, just a quiet chuckle here and there. Then Donkey appeared and after that it was frequently amusing, with he and Puss in Boots having the best lines. The story was good, with Shrek starting out as a popular family man (or should I say, ogre) but missing the good old days when he scared everybody and took his baths in mud pools. After a brief altercation with his wife Fiona, he meets up with Rumplestiltskin and enters into an appealing contract for one day which promises to offer him a brief return to those times he is pining for. It's a trick, however, and everything goes badly wrong, Shrek waking up in a kind of parallel universe where all of the familiar characters exist, but none of them know who he is - including Fiona, who now leads an underground resistance movement of ogres against Rumplestiltskin and his army of witches.

One Star Review - what film did you watch?5
I have a two year old that loves Shrek and so we have them all on DVD. Shrek 4 is really really funny. I've watched this several times already and find the adult humor that runs through it really on the money. I have no idea how you would rate this as one star and my little girl also thinks its great.

If you have not seen Shrek then watch the first, maybe watch the second, avoid the 3rd and definitely watch this.

Great film that doesn't take itself seriously5
The A-Team is a great film and it doesn't want to take itself too seriously. Unlike most critics who seem to be tearing it apart.

Granted, it's not going to be critically acclaimed, but it entertains the masses in a refreshing way that's full of action, humour and some of the good old A-Team catchphrases. If you want a great movie that's fun then this is one of the best this year.

It's a shame the movie doesn't focus on all 4 characters equally, but that's only a small glitch. They are all portrayed well by their 2010 actors and do the original series justice.

Don't hesitate to get this on DVD!

Over the top action and fun, in a good way5
I tend to respond negatively to remakes and I've only ever watched a few episodes of the original A-Team show, so I went to see this movie without comparing it to the show and I have got to say, I was not disappointed.

The story was well written, especially the origin story of how the A-Team comes together which is told in the first 15 minutes, the action sequences are explosive and the dialogue was witty and engaging, but I was most impressed with the acting as all the cast members seemed to really enjoy playing these iconic characters and this only enhances their performance. The most obvious example was Sharlto Copley, whose protrayal as 'Howling Mad' Murdock was fantastic, easily making him the most likeable character in the whole movie.

My only criticism is the film's villain, who is immediately identifiable from the moment he is introduced, but this is a very minor detraction from what is on the whole, a fun and explosive summer action movie.

If you're looking for something funny with plenty of action and explosions, this is a reliable choice, though die-hard fans of the A-Team show may be disappointed.

One of the best and one of the most complicated movies I have ever seen5
Once in a while, a film comes along that not only takes the cinematic world by storm, but also rewrites the rules of movie making altogether. Christopher Nolan's latest project, Inception, is one such achievement. Nolan had previously directed the masterpiece, The Dark Knight. That film gave us a whole new look into what a Batman film could be like. But with Inception, he creates something so new; so fresh and original that you wonder if even he fully understood it.

Brilliant from Mr Nolan and co.5
Can Christopher Nolan do no wrong? On the basis of Inception, he's definitely the go to director of intelligent action films/thrillers.

The plot is basically a heist but the difference is basically is that this is a heist film which involves breaking into the human mind rather than a bank or a corporation.

Leonardo Di Caprio and his group of infiltrators are interesting characters, most notably Tom Hardy as the identity forger and Ellen Page as Di Caprio's psychological architect protigee.

The effects are brilliant but they're not the be all and end all as they are simply the icing on the cake of a wonderfully mind bending plot. I defy anybody to "get" this film on the first attempt. (It took me two viewings to follow the plot effectively).

A brilliant film and well worth two hours of your time. Now come on Mr Nolan, hurry up with the next Batman film.

How to [Entertain] Your Dragon5
The release of this film had my expectations running quite high, given the pedigree of recent films from Dreamworks, which had set the standard. 'How to Train Your Dragon' definitely rose to the challenge, with flawless animation and great depth of field if you see it in 3D at the cinema. The characters are well developed though portrayed quite simply, but this is all thats needed. I thoroughly enjoyed this film, and would recommend it to anyone (no kids required) who enjoys their Dreamworks films for the quality of animations, reality of characters and high level of entertainment, with a teaspoon of cuteness added for good measure.
